CandH Exclusive: Spurs drop out of race for Irons target

Exclusive By Dave Langton

Spurs are not in the race to sign Ben Brereton Diaz from Blackburn.

The Hammers are interested in doing a deal to sign the Chile international this summer and there remains a possibility that he could arrive alongside Armando Broja from Chelsea.

There have been reports of stiff competition for Brereton Diaz, though, after his excellent season in the Championship.

He scored 22 goals last season and Spurs were mulling a potential offer.

However, sources close to the club have now told C&H that Spurs have cooled their interest and are focusing on other targets.

They have signed Richarlison from Everton in a huge £60m deal and are now looking towards other positions as Antonio Conte bids to strengthen his squad.

Brereton Diaz’s agent is touting him to a number of clubs, and the player has a desire to move in this transfer window.

But Spurs have dropped out of the race, meaning there is one less club for the Irons to contend with.

  1. I’d hardly say we are in the race, if this was the case then surely we would of made an offer by now, but true to ” Dithering Daves ” reluctance to make a decision we will probably miss out again while he begs Lingard to come & waits on Chelsea for Broja who is way over priced anyway.

  2. So going for Diaz undead of Scamacca , yeh we’re massive . Scamacca is who we should be going all out for . We’re full of it get th deal done and show ambition!

  3. Terrible signing, massive risk. Has had half a season being prolific, the rest have been below average.
