David Sullivan singled out Andy Carroll for special praise after the Irons magnificent victory over Chelsea.
And co chairman David Gold was celebrating too as the club’s record signing scored a wonderful headed goal in front of watching England boss Roy Hodgson.
The big man rose beautifully to meet a cross from Aaron Cresswell which had everything except pace.
But that made no difference to AC who saw a spot at the top right hand corner and placed it past the helpless Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
And afterwards Sullivan declared to ClaretandHugh: “It was a fantastic performance and I was so pleased for AC to score the winner after all his hard work.”
Amidst all the excitement of one of our most memorable victories he hadn’t forgotten “this was our seventh undefeated game on the trot” and added: “Let’s all keep our fingers crossed we can keep this run going.”
And Gold declared: “It was a special moment for Andy and everybody associated with our wonderful football club will be pleased for him and proud of him.
“To be sitting in the top three at this stage of the season is beyond everybody’s wildest dreams. At this moment we are all in a fantastic dreamland and we can all start to believe.”
So pleased for Andy to score today .The whole team did us proud !
