David Gold sent ClaretandHugh a couple of pictures of his own from Dubai after the team’s performance in grabbing a point against Watford.

And the co- chairman – having watched the 1-1 draw at The Nelson pub with a bunch of Hammers supporters – told us: “It was fantastic to be with hard core fans in a pub enjoying the game.

“It took me back to the days on the terraces. It was brilliant.I am out here on business and this was just a little bit special for me.”

And on the game itself he said: “It was a terrible start but you saw the amazing spirit of the team as they came on strong to get something from the game.

“It could and should have been a win really but after that start we have to be happy to come away with a point”
