Captain Delcan Rice was the only West Ham player to walk to every London Stadium stand and applaud the fans after the late loss against Brentford.
Journalist Tom Clark watching from the press box added that Michael Antonio and Jarrod Bowen also applauded the supporters but didn’t visit each stand.
One West Ham supporter called the 22-year-old Captain Fantastic saying “you have to respect and love the lad.”
The defensive midfielder was clearly the best West Ham player on the pitch yesterday despite suffering from cramps and ran his socks off for the Irons.
Those who suggest he is desperate to leave for a big six club or that he is a Chelsea man in his heart should think again.
Declan Rice previously declared: “Everyone knows how I feel about West Ham, how I feel about playing for the manager. You can see from my performances, nothing is up and nothing is concerning me. My only objective at the moment is going out and playing for the club.”
What the future holds for Declan Rice, no one knows but he is a Hammer for now and contracted until the end of June 2024 with a club option for another year.
Time to make him team captain and not just stand in for Noble . We are close to having the best squad I have seen at West Ham since the Macavenie / Cottee era and need to keep his leadership qualities and playing ability . We have not had a leader by example since Billy . COYI
