Carabao Cup – Premier League Opponents

It is an all-Premier League affair for the Hammers, who will host Bournemouth. I was secretly hoping for Millwall.

The Hammers under new Head Coach Lopetegui will go into all three competitions this year with a sense of ambition, the lack of Thursday night European football making the Carabao Cup more of an opportunity, less of a ‘drain’ on squad energy.

The game against Bournemouth is not without its hazards. The Cherries actually made it to the fourth round last year before losing to Liverpool and the last two of West Ham’s matches against Bournemouth have both ended as draws.

For anyone who fancies a flutter, West Ham are currently being shown as a 26/1 bet to win the trophy, 10th behind the usual suspects and Brighton plus Villa. Got to be with a tenner of anyone’s money, I’d say.

Carabao Cup second-round draw Highlights:
Southern Section:

West Ham United v Bournemouth

Birmingham City v Fulham

Brighton & Hove Albion v Crawley Town

Crystal Palace v Norwich City

Cardiff City v Southampton

Millwall v Leyton Orient

Colchester United v Brentford

Northern Section

Everton v Doncaster Rovers

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Burnley

When will the Carabao Cup second-round be played?

The games are scheduled to be played across the week commencing Monday 26 August, 2024.

Not sure you should be encouraging people to bet Simon.

frankly, when the main sponsor on the shirt is still BETWAY…

Still… betting (gambling) is a mug’s game and worse , it can be addictive.

Not happy with sponsor Martin. Much preferred Dagenham Motors or Dr Martens. Betting has ruined many, many lives for many, many years. Betting shops opened in 1961. Before then it was very difficult for the average man to wager. It was a rich toff’s game. Since then it has become normalised with disastrous consequences for so many people. All starts with a ‘fun’ bet encouraged by those that already gamble. Ends in misery – life changing and sometimes, life ending.
Not a subject to be trivialised Martin.

Agreed, will be a very good step in the right direction when the shirt sponsor changes. Just hope they don’t take over naming rights of the LS.

The only thing I will bet on in all the domestic cup competitions is that we will get the hardest draw going, what is it with us drawing PL opposition every round, Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, City in the last couple of years, am sure these things are rigged, at least it’s a home game.
