‘Caretaker’ David Moyes’ Could Return If Lopetegui Sacked Tonight

The background noise continues to rise as Lopetegui prepares his West Ham side for the visit of Wolves tonight. Following his very uncomfortable press session last week, several articles now describe having sympathy for The Spaniard who was plainly struggling with some of the questions, seeking to keep his dignity intact whilst being asked about the club actively searching for his successor.

It made very awkward viewing.

Today the spectre of his predecessor returning to London Stadium was again raised by talkSPORT
in their article headlined:”David Moyes open to a shock third spell at West Ham as Julen Lopetegui faces sack”

Which summarised: “The Hammers could turn to a caretaker manager should they sack Lopetegui .. and Moyes would be open to heading back.”

This until Max Allegri takes over at the end of the 2024/5 season, apparently.

Now I’m not sure how I feel about that. It says how low the team’s performance has sunk and how depressing this talk of bust-ups and players leaving in January has got that I’m even ‘undecided’ about the man I couldn’t wait to see the back of last summer.

IF Allegri really is the man chosen and signs a contract to start in the summer – then Moyes could do a job keeping West Ham safe in the Premier League until then.

However, I’m very wary of such a suggestion, as Allegri is so far out of West Hams financial comfort zone as a head coach that I’d be wary of Moyes ‘caretaker role’ just being the precursor to another three years of dull defensive dreary dithery Dave.

We will put it to our source at the club and see if we can find out more on this ‘Moyes return’ story!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

This would be a disaster. I can see many season ticket holders not bothering to go anymore and I would be one of them.
The fact that this guy has been a failure doesn’t mean we should return to the previous failure. Things just go from bad to worse…….

  • Moysies Mum says:

Yes come on home Moysie. You know you all love him really.

    • David Moyes Dad says:

Even Moyes’s Mum knows he plays boring football that has more leaks than Taffyhammer’s vegetable patch

  • Taffyhammer says:

Can’t see this happening. What’s the point? Might as well keep the staff we have until the end of season anyway. Julen Lopetegui and his fellow coaches can not possibly lead us to relegation. The bright idea would be to ask Kevin Nolan to join the current management and keep them honest.
Whatever happens – I am still backing the team to show some worth and self-esteem.

    COYI

    • Dave says:

Bet you’re gutted Frank Lampard joined Coventry 🤣🤣🤣 Keep Loppy, really Taffy? Have you been trapped down the mines this season 🤦‍♂️

  • Kenny Irons says:

Getting more ridiculous by the minute – I’m sure this is being made up, although only West Ham would replace a current clown with a clown they managed to get rid of.
If this happens, will be Mutiny ! Does this club only have a reverse gear ???

  • Sheik Yerbouti says:

What do you mean martin “I’m not sure about that” jeez man I don’t want Moyes anywhere near this club.
On the C2C at the moment on the way to the game.

  • EssexHammer says:

I’m not going back again to watch our team if Moyes gets another chance at our club.

He bored the fans to death and is a dangerous coach to consider if Sullivan doesn’t want fans to vote by not returning if this is true!

  • Andy says:

Just when we thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse, diabolical, farcical and chaotic!!

Seriously Sullivan will have mutiny on his hands from the fans that will be mad enough to attend games if Moyes or Allegri rock up at West Ham.

    Total and utter madness!!

  • Paul says:

    Hell nooooooooo!!

Moyes has been jogged on twice already ffs. This must just be some sort of sick joke.

  • Dave says:

There’s probably only one idiot on C&H that would welcome back Moyes 👉 Annette Markham 👈

That Karen Brady clone loves Moyes and is anti-Tim.

She will be over the moon whilst the rest of us despair if this ridiculous idea ever becomes reality.

  • Alan says:

And when Allegri doesn’t work out due to the same reasons Pellegrini and Lopetegui didn’t, what then?

Moyes to return for a 4th stint?

At least we’re not run like a circus anymore.

    • Dave says:

Just when you thought this circus 🎪 couldn’t get any worse we get linked with another two people the fans would struggle to get behind!

West Ham must hope Sullivan takes too much viagra and has to be advised by medical staff not to continue as chairman.

    • Sheik Yerbouti says:

Anyway I don’t believe anything on talk****

  • JAMES BRAGG says:

Please God no ,could not stand to watch anymore of the brand of football this man dished out,

    • Matt says:

My self imposed exile will certainly continue while JLo is in the role and if Moyes gets the job.

I was bored to death at the stadium by the Scot and now can’t stand Sullivan. He simply has to go!

  • Jay P says:

If we are planning to appoint a caretaker, I’d rather have an unexperienced Mark Noble appointed than having the dinosaur back at the club

  • CanningTown Iron says:

I’d rather get a Caretaker from any school in Newham than see Moyes return to West Ham.

I won’t return if Moyes is appointed as coach! The dire football we played under him was boring and this will just show Sullivan has to hurry up and get out of our club.

  • Eastendexile says:

Moyes ‘might ‘ be open for a third return. I however am definitely NOT, and I sincerely hope that the board also share this opinion.
We cannot go back to that and hopefully we go forwards towards a more balanced attacking game under someone new.
Ideally, with someone who can get their ideas across in a more understandable English.

    • Taffyhammer says:

Wee Davey has been in England for a long while now. His English is probably better than most!

      • Dave says:

Are you actually the full ticket? I’m seriously worried about your mental health Taffy, help is available, give the Samaritans a call 📞

  • Kip says:

Not even commenting on this drivel….laughing stock is an understatement…sad times …what a mess

  • John says:

    Sullivan has to go!

His appointment of Loppy was pathetic but keeping faith with this joke of a coach is just permitting these type of garbage stories the chance to appear.

Moyes was terrible during his spell during 2024 and how anyone thinks he can inspire and win back fans they are as deluded as Sullivan!

  • Mick Bering says:

NO NO NO WE CANNOT GO BACKWARDS ANYMORE

    • BobbyMoore ST holder says:

Moyes can’t possibly return. The fans are already furious with Sullivan. If Moyes replaced the man who replaced him forget about season ticket sales for next season.

I certainly won’t return if Moyes gets the job! We hesitated when Julien got the job but like John said 2024 has been atrocious due to Moyes and now Julien.

This would make Sullivan look an even bigger muppet than he is already is and I never thought that was possible.

  • Mark says:

Neither Moyes or Allegri are worth even mentioning let alone considering.

Can you imagine how empty the stadium will be if Moyes gets another stint in charge?! Backlash against the board we be immense.

I do think Talksport and the other dubious sources that mention Moyes are just trying to get listeners or idiots to believe a farcical story.

  • Dean Hodges says:

Have we all got collective amnesia here? We let in 74 goals last season and we were awful to watch, are we really confident that we wouldn’t get sucked further into a relegation battle under Moyes?

    • Taffyhammer says:

Certainly after Christmas when we were playing PL on Sundays with a depleted squad and tired players. We did manage semi-final of Europa League Cup though. No such excuses this season.

  • Gaz says:

Moyse in? I am out. Anyone who watched the Conference League final knows we were outplayed and out classed. A lucky break for a fast and capable Bowen was the difference.
Hope isn’t a very good plan. Ever.
