CARLTON DAYS NUMBERED AS HUNT HOTS UP

Carlton Cole and Modibo Maiga both look set to make January exits from Upton Park in January.

The Hammers are now entirely focused on bringing in a quality striker on loan regardless of Andy Carroll’s return to fitness.

The departure of the pair would release around £60,000 on the wage bill and if they can also shed Mladen Petric, they will do so.

We can confirm that Chelsea’s Demba Ba and Tottenham Hotspur’s Emmanuel Adebayor are at the top of the club’s wanted list.

But a source revealed: “You mention a top striker who may be available for loan and he’s on the list.

“There are problems with injuries in other areas too but the club will have to waddle through as every penny available will go on a striker.

“It’s very easy to see Carlton being allowed to leave and Maiga too. Despite an improvement in his game, he’s not the answer. Twelve games without a goal tells it’s own story.”
