Carragher gets it bang on about top Iron

There’s a few of you who are gonna loathe what I’m about to say – tin helmet on and abuse moderation at the ready!

But were I to be holding a dinner party and it was a case of Jamie Carragher or Gary Neville at the table it would be the old scouser every time.

Yeah, I know his previous and at a personal level the gobbing incident, when a young girl was the sufferer, was awful but in terms of football, I’d have his company every time in preference to the gobby Manc.

There are many who believe him to be entirely anti-West Ham but his comments about Jarrod Bowen in particular on the Monday Night Football Show could hardly have been better.

He said: “Bowen, he has been a brilliant signing. He’s just one of those players, he always nicks a goal every three or four games, you just see him on the score sheet. And again he’s got a vital goal for them. He does really well on that right side coming inside and he’s been a great signing for them from the Championship.”

Just as I don’t believe players – as they are sometimes accused – don’t care and under-motivated pundits don’t generally wade into clubs because of personal prejudices against the.

Ah, Fact check – unless their name is Roy Keane.

Cara is right – Bowen has been an amazing buy and has now notched five goals along with some superbly athletic performances.

I also enjoyed how he put down Neville who tried to argue over and over that every offside decision is based on about an inch.

He got more and more heated about it as the former Liverpool full-back boxed him into a corner and made him look entirely daft.

Not hard mind you!

  1. Can’t stand him, the gobbing incident was indicative of his persona, a bitter scouser that is up himself unlike most scousers who are very grounded and a great laugh, not dissimilar to ourselves. I know it may not be the generally accepted view but I think Neville get’s it right more often than most pundits, with regards to the offisides he said it’s always about fine margins, is absolutely right, he said he couldn’t understand why it takes so long to make the decisions which is right. VAR isn’t the problem it’s the muppets that make the rules and officiate it. Go back to the old handball and offside rules and it will get a lot easier, make the offside rule from the centre of the chest if using VAR or where the feet are furthest forward towards the goal whatever, but making it the arm is stupid as the Bamford goal proved when he was pointing to where he wanted the ball played and was called offside.

  2. I make you right on all, especially Neville.

  3. Needs an interpreter or subtitles. Rather detracts from whatever he says. Gary has some good points too but needs to know when to stop.
