Carroll facing lengthy lay-off

|

carrollAndy Carroll is facing a lengthy period on the sidelines after his ankle injury fears were finally confirmed this evening.

Some reports tonight are claiming that he has suffered a hairline fracture and should that be the case then the player is almost certain to be facing surgery.

It all means that the big striker looks set to be out of action for a month to six weeks minimum and having proved to be such a slow healer in the past, nobody will be keen to put a date on his return.

Various ‘papers – which have regularly beenΒ  claiming scans have shown nothing – are tonight claiming the problem was only discovered today despite him having been absent for a couple of weeks.

That may be stretching credibility a little too far given that he has been injured since January 4.

I feel sorry for AC, but we can’t build a team/formation/playing style around him, or rely on him counting as one striker in the squad.

If he’s to stay out his contract he should be happy as an impact striker for the last 10-15 mins of games, because his body clearly cannot take 90 minutes or anything close to that.

I wonder who has lost more career games. AC or Kieron Dyer. And who has cost us most money pr game.

In which case why are you feeling sorry for the party-mad china doll who gets paid Β£80k a week regardless of whether or not he is fit? Are you bleeding mad?

      • HammerDuck says:

Totally agree. Carroll is bleeding us dry and happily displays a party-party attitude at our expense. Don’t see him giving anything back in the way of charity work, time or money. How can anyone feel sorry for a guy earning what he has. Sorry, incorrect use of the word “earning”!

        • eriko says:

Okay, so if he’d been given a 20k pw contract you would have showed sympathy? 30k? Where’s your limit?

If we’re looking at the money I don’t feel sorry for any footballer whatsoever. It’s a disgrace that anyone in the premier league can earn that kind of money, injured or not. Not just AC.

And it’s not that he’s a china doll on purpose.

Everytime I’ve seen him play he’s showed commitment. Party animal or not, I can’t see it as a reason for being injured. And I don’t think you would have mentioned it if he was fit.

If you think he’s counting money on the physio table I think that’s you being mad. He probably could have been one of Englands greatest strikers of his generation if his body worked better. In that perspective, it’s a shame. And yes I feel sorry for him not being able to reach his potential, and pay back to the club and fans on the pitch.

As long as he’s our player I won’t slag him off, at least not as long as he keeps his commitment on the pitch.

          Sakho, that’s a different story.

  • Mary Millingtons Ghost says:

Surely the clubs doctors should have discovered this fracture earlier?
Who does our medicals, Mr Magoo?

  • mooro66uk says:

How do we know it is a fracture? Until the club or the medicos announce it, no one knows.

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

It must have been a slight touch that caused it ! I mean poppodoms aren’t that strong are they , a finger poke does it normally ! I mean just a crack must have been very light contact πŸ˜‚ , how much more πŸ’© has this club got to take from this unplayable superstar ! He’s unplayable because he’s never on the park ffs , 6weeks πŸ˜‚ try 3 months πŸ‘ what a star !!!
If its not a fracture mooro then there’s a problem ! He’s stated he doesn’t want a bit part but to compare him to sakho seems taboo 😎 he’s a total failure for our club, get rid asap ! 😈

Carroll’s injury record is appalling. Imagine the career he could have had if he had stayed fit throughout it. I have some sympathy for him but my patience ran out long ago.

We have, hopefully, a more reliable focal point for our attack in Arnie, so let’s hope Carroll’s latest injury doesn’t kibosh his proposed move to Chelski.

  • claret says:

Just when I thought the club could rid themselves of this useless specimen he goes and gets injured surely the club should dock him wages for all medical treatment he receives
Allerdyce has a lot to answer for buying him I can see why Moyes is being very particular before he commits to buying anyone but time is running out & unless he strengthens the midfield we could still be dragged down & be relegated Sullivan must also see this & should insist that Moyes gets his a,,se into gear & nominates who he wants So Sullivan can do the necessary

  • mooro66uk says:

IF he is really out for any length of time then the Chelski business is over and done, so no swap for Bats. In which case we should now go all in for Smolov as there really is no other options up front if Arnie gets an injury. We can’t depend on the rest to get goals.

  • itchyrbuckle says:

I understand people’s frustrations with the lad but surely he’s not going out of his way to injure himself as that would be totally detrimental to his future both in playing and higher potential earnings. Unfortunately his body is not ideal for playing football. The club need to pay him out so we can move on.

  • robbiem says:

Fed up with this joker. Β£90k per week is an insult. Still got 18 months left on his contract. I would love to know the real transaction Allardyce and the board struck. Curtis was the agent for Carroll and Allardyce and must have had a carve up.

  • jimbo says:

Does AC get injured on purpose, probably not. Does he look after himself and so mitigate the risks, probably not! Since he left Newscastle he has spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch, and what is evident to any manager is you will do very well to get 20 games a season from him. if we were about to sign a player with this track record, we would be up in arms. So let’s stop feeling sorry for him. He is at best unreliable, has wasted his ability and now he has gone and let us all down again by blowing our chances of getting a bucket load of cash for him. Well at least he is consistent!
