Carroll goal from Winteruhr clash and HT report

HALF TIME: FC Winteruhr 2 Hammers 1

The Hammers went in 2-1 down at half time after Andy Carroll had equalised an early goal with a tap in from Edi Fernandes’s pass before the Swiss regained the lead and then hit the wood work for the second time in the game.

But after Zaba was hauled down in the dying seconds of the half ,Speigel flew to his right to save Carroll’s spot kick before turning a Fernandes shot superbly round the post.

The Hammers – with very much a second string type of team outfit on display – were found out at the back on several occasions but had Adrian to thank for some top saves.
First half team: Adrian; Zaba, Oxford, Rice, Masuaku; Obiang, Fernandes, Coventry, Holland,Haksabanovich, Carroll
