Match of the Day pundit Ruud Gullit made sure he didn’t miss the opportunity of wading into Andy Carroll as he discussed yesterdays match at Vicarage Road.
The Dutchman was in apparent disbelief at his performance and made no bones about his opinion of the player’s 90 minutes after watching his present a goal to the hosts.
He said: “It’s unbelievable. Andy Carroll has to defend. He had a nightmare attacking and defending.
He thinks he has to play football in his own box. He just gave a goal away.”
Looked to me as though he saw Moses and pulled out of the volley, Moses was useless yesterday, he did what he has done at many other clubs, wandered around the pitch aimlessly, if he wasn’t in the wrong place Carroll would have cleared that and who knows what may have transpired. Bilic was right we were second best all over the pitch, Valencia tried hard though when he came on and the sooner he and Sakho are the front two and the sooner Song is back the better. Watford are a good side with a very good manager, Ighalo and Deeney are a real handful, Abdi is also pretty good and how Capoue never got sent off just before Collins I have no idea, in the run up to that event he assalted three of our players I have seen him do similar things in the past, he is a nutcase and should be banned for an extended period. Everton and Spuds next so a good chance to go back to what we have been doing well, counter attacking, one plus point Bilic can now play his best team following a defeat, anyone know why Sakho wasn’t in the team ?
I agree he also missed an easy chance trying a difficult volley like he was a Di Canio instead of heading it in he also failed to follow up when Valencia hit the post he should have done better for a 20 mil player
Agreed but so did 10 other players and the manager got the playing method wrong as well,
Carroll needs to be used as an impact forward or e can forget playing as we have,
We need wide players to provide the ball for Carroll around the penalty spot to attack which means you need Payet behind to make the telling balls which leaves no place for Noble as you need Kouyate and another such as Obiang or Song winning the ball and giving it to Payet,
Gullit did not mention others that did not defend as they should have done
