Carroll v Bony judgement day

SCarrollhairflyingunday afternoon against Swansea presents a fascinating sub plot within the main event – Andy Carroll v Wilfried Bony!

We don’t need to have the longest memories to recall that Bony was of course very much on his way to Upton Park ahead of Carroll until Sam Allardyce decided that the Geordie was the striker he wanted.

It’s now almost pat of West Ham folklore that Bony was available at to us at around £8 million and eventually cost Swansea £13 million whilst Carroll finally got the nod for closer to £18 million.

Andy spiced up the clash and comparison himself when telling the official site this week: “”I think he’s a great player and has been fantastic for them.

bony-429217“He’s big, strong and keeps the ball well and he can score goals on the floor and in the air. He is going to be one to watch and keep a hold of.”

Carroll – now into his third game proper – after a cameo appearance in his first against Villa – is still awaiting his first goal of the season after managing two in 16 starts last season.

Bony, meanwhile, has managed six from 16 this season and finished last term with 25 from 48n outings – several in the Europa League.

  1. £5m less and already six goals ahead of AC and highly likely to extend the difference. That Allardyce certainly knows to spend the clubs money (on his £3m a year plus bonuses salary.).Or do we ignore this as we beat WBA without a shot of any sort in the second half? Selective memory some people!

  2. Rugby, you really are the most negative guy.Sometimes i wonder if you would prefer us in League Two.Atleast then you could justify your rants. Now i know exaxtly why the term ‘Empty vessels making the most noise’ was created 😉

  3. So some people don’t like Allardyce! I don’t either but I wouldn’t use the word “hate” as has been attributed to the likes of Rugby and I.Indeed I feel some of the attacks on Rugby are bordering on personal. Some will say to me “toughen up”.I do have my standards and for that reason will no longer contribute to this site although I do reserve the right to continue reading it.COYI.

    • We all have our standards but I am staggered you describe remarks on rugby as personal given the vitriol he throws in allardyce’s direction every time he writes. utterly unbelievable comment and perhaps as well you won’t be offering anything else. blimey!!!

    • Oh and I’m no fan of the manager either but the owners and him have worked very hard as a team to bring us to where we are so let’s give the hatred a rest eh?

  4. well Roman,my comments are only tongue in cheek about Rugby. However,he has no problem throwing the personal attacks about at the Irons hierachy on a regular basis. Some of which about Sam & this damn Curtis he bangs on about are probably not far off of libelous on occasion.Sam also sends me crazy with his decision making & team set up quite often but for now i will just enjoy the good times while they last, not try to pour cold water on every article posted here.Im sure Rugbys a big boy,he has the right to reply if he takes offense to the banter, which on my behalf is all it is 😉

  5. Thanks Hugh. Thanks rads 45 for explaining your view.Have a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year gang.

  6. Roman, Rugbyirons gets what he deserves he is a divisive poster and you know it. I find it hard to believe he is a fan of the same club as me.
