Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is now being floated as a leading candidate for the West Ham manager’s position, with Julen Lopetegui coming under increasing pressure.
Rodgers was previously considered for the Hammers role when he departed Leicester City but instead chose to head back to Scotland for a second stint.
Fresh off a trophy-winning season and currently dominating the Premiership, Rodgers has guided Celtic to all but one victory this campaign, with a single draw against second-place Aberdeen and has also secured a Cup final spot.
The Irishman is just the latest in a line of candidates, which included last night’s three bookies’ favourites: Edin Terzic, Graham Potter, and Gareth Southgate.
Marco Silva, Thomas Frank, and Andoni Iraola head the list of Hammers fans’ favourites, with some even championing Rodgers’ former Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, as an outside shout.
Lopetegui himself can probably put talk of change on the backburner with a win against Sean Dyche’s Everton at the weekend. But with West Ham not playing until November 25th after Saturday’s Premier League fixture, it could be the perfect opportunity to make a change.
Just to be clear, I am available. £1m a year plus private health, can start immediately, no severance package/release clause, fluent in English.
Rodgers made a big apology when he went back to Celtic and committed not to leave again under similar circumstances. Very unlikely.
No to Potter, no to Frank, no to Southgate and who the hell mentioned Mourinho in that conversation. You would have to be in dire need of medical attention to want that clown anywhere near Stratford or Rush Green. Now that we allegedly have someone (TS) who does actually know a duck when he sees one (yes, I am beginning to wonder too), let him put his job on the line and bring in someone with a bit of flair, skill and passion for West Ham.
Anthony Martin for hammers.news is campaigning for Mourinho. I think he’s off his rocker! It’s the most ridiculous story I’ve read on a possible replacement so far. But you can’t tell him as there is no reader comments like there used to be. Just as well for him!
If we do make a change (and I now have a similar feeling to before Bilic was fired i.e. lets just get this over with as its dragging along very painfully) the challenge will be to get a manager who can get a tune out of the current squad (including the very slow midfield) with limited options for improvement in January due PSR
I am interested to see what will happen

It is just the same old tired list every time. We need a young dynamic manager with Premier League experience not the usual old carthorses. This will probably be shot down in flames given their current league position but what about nabbing Rob Edwards from Luton. He did remarkably well last season with the very limited resources he had at The Hatters. Surely with a decent squad (like we are supposed to have) he could do a great job. I’d take him over any of the old guard
I thought you wanted someone with Premier experience? Rob got Luton relegated, if that’s the level experience you are after then we are doomed
How about someone we’ve never heard of. Or is that too revolutionary for West Ham. Maybe ‘the Pearl diver’ can unearth the next Alonso for Sully to veto because he’s never coached in the prem.
I like this option more than the others tbh
