C&H exclusive: Soucek reports are false.
One of the more unusual transfer stories that emerged today centered around Tomas Soucek supposedly leaving West Ham to join Inter Milan next summer. Adding to the intrigue, a report on ‘caughtoffside‘ raised doubts regarding the length of Soucek’s contract.
The article stated, “The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and is able to talk to other interested parties from January. Even though his own position is far from under threat, Tomas Soucek is the subject of genuine interest from Internazionale.”
This information contradicted what was reported on this site in August, where it was stated that Soucek had recently signed a new contract with the Hammers. Conflicting reports like these would usually be dismissed, but this inaccurate story gained traction, being reiterated in various reports from Italy.
To address the confusion surrounding the player’s contractual situation, Claret and Hugh sought to clarify matters and consulted its top source at West Ham to set the record straight.
“He [Tomas] signed a new deal in the Summer. It shows how badly informed some reports can be” was the swift response given to C&H.
It is understood the player penned a long-term deal so there is no chance of him leaving on a free transfer.
