Champions League: Irons stats looking good

|

championsWith excitement around our club so high at the moment is it any wonder people are talking about a top four finish?

Not really because as David Sullivan commented yesterday football is all about dreams..

We’re in a wonderful place right now where most Hammers fans believe anything is possible but exactly what would be required for the Hammers to make it into Europe’s elite competition – the Champions League?

Statistics are more suited to other sites than Claretandhugh ๐Ÿ™‚ but on this occasion we will make an exception as the requirement to mix it with the best around is worth exploring.

So here goes – these are the facts.

The averageย points total for Champions League qualification over the past five years has been 71.8 points.ย
ย
Chelsea would need to pick up 2.17 points per game from their remaining fixtures to reach that mark.
ย
West Ham (in 3rd) need 1.85 as do Manchester United (in 4th). Leicester (in 5th) need 1.89. Spurs (in 6th) need 1.96.ย
ย
With 20 points so far, West Ham have taken two points per game and if we keep this up – in theory anyway – we will qualify for the Champions League.

Winchester there was 2 differences then Hippo and not such a good squad,
Wrong site for dripping down your leg like stats
How’s this for a stat we have made a profit 2 years running and now we are told we could lose ยฃ10 million this season,
If we win the league how much will we lose this season ?
If we win the cup how much ?
I will dream this season right to the end and those waiting for a slump ( WHY ) will still be waiting in March,
We are going all the way and no I won’t calm down

Come on Hugh and the hammers fans speculating in this ridiculous way. You’re starting to suffer from spursitis. It starts with a warm feeling that quickly develops into delusions of grandeur followed by completely unjustified arrogance. Let’s keep our feet very firmly on the ground. Last season we were fourth at Christmas – that’s another two months away – and look what happened. I don’t want to throw a dampener on things, but let’s just revel in the West Ham way returning. I remember in the sixties beating Fulham 6-1 on a Saturday, Leeds 7-0 in mid-week and Spurs 4-3 away the following Saturday (I think I have that right) and then it all went pear-shaped. That’s the true excitement of being s a Hammers fan

Collins, Zarate and Sullivan are dreaming of it and think its possible, pretty sure a lot of other players feel this could be an amazing season too… but as fans we aren’t allowed your saying Winchester?
Looking at fixtures and way we are playing ATM it is defiantly possible as long as we keep it up and don’t fall apart like last year but like bubs said we don’t have allardyce this year and have a much, much stronger team.

      • winchester hammer says:

We’re all dreaming. It’s hard not when we’re playing so well. But apart from 86 when have we ever gone beyond Christmas without falling apart. There is nothing more I would love than to have my scepticism thrown in my face. COYI

    • dandapperwhu says:
