Chartlon Athletic chief executive Katrien Meire has dismissed claims that West Ham’s move to the Olympic Stadium will have a negative impact on the Addicks despite claims from the Chartlon Athletic Supporter’s Trust to the contrary .Meire said “I think we have a very unique and different proposition from West Ham, at Charlton we have certain values that are not found in another London club – we have a family club image with a big history where people can come for an easy, affordably day out.”
“At other Premier League games it’s great, the football is great – but you are just one of the thousands of people and you perhaps don’t feel as part of the community. I don’t blame West Ham for getting the deal of the century – they had an opportunity and they went for it, I think it’s the government who need to think twice about what they’ve done.”
“The operational cost at the Valley is more than the rent that they will pay, and the stadium is half the size. You can’t blame West Ham but you must question those who gave them the opportunity.It might be a challenge but I truly believe we have something unique and different to offer fans.”
The CEO comments seem to be in contrast what the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust believe.
CAST campaigner and Charlton fan Richard Hunt has led the campaign through freedom of information requests and complaints to the European commission. It is his freedom of information request which spawned the Guardian article by Owen Gibson which in turn gave birth to the BBC Documentary.
Mr Hunt was also behind the failed petition to the government in a call for a public inquiry supposedily backed by 14 supporters trusts.

The funny thing is that the West Ham curse now seems to have caught Charlton Pathetic FC too at full pelt, they are playing terriblefootball and sit near the bottom of the Championship playing in front of home crowds of 13.000. Remember how Sheffield United, Reading and Wigan conspired against West Ham after the Tevez affair ? Leyton Orient/Hearn trying to throw spanners in the works for our move into the OS ?

Lol,i read it very rarely just to see how their campaign is going.I just find it amusing to read their silly little digs they make about The Irons.They try to come across as intelligent,impartial guys campaigning for the tax payer but cant help themselves sounding jealous & spiteful towards us sometimes.Makes me laugh 😉

They have gone very quiet over there on Charlton Life. Maybe finally realizing that they might better serve their club by supporting them in its current crisis rather than fighting a lost cause they are unlikely to change anything about at this stage anymore.
