CHELSEA are the latest club to be linked to a move for Issa Diop after supposed interest from Manchester United a month ago.
The Star are the latest to leap onto the bandwagon claiming that Frank Lampard has been scouting the centre-back for some time and that the Blues will offer £40 million.
The central defender has had just a couple of Premier League games and an appearance in the 3rd round FA Cup clash against Gillingham since November 23 sparking rumours that he could be on his way.
However, with David Moyes looking set to play three at the back on various occasions it would be a surprise if he would be ready to let the Frenchman leave in this window with the team precariously placed.
Frank Lampard is looking to move into the winter window after Chelsea had their transfer ban overturned and Diop’s name is in the frame as a result of the team conceding 29 goals in the league so far this season.
The 22 year old has made 55 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers and is considered to be one of the Premier League’s finest young defenders.
However, if we believe The Star report we also have to believe that the player’s price has fallen by £10 million within a month from the £50 million being mentioned when the Man U rumours arose.
Frankly, with Moyes still very much assessing his options and determined to sort out the Hammers well known defensive frailties this season this one looks like a bit of kite flying.
