Chelsea out of race for Declan Rice

|

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are currently the worst team in the Premier League and as a result are surely out of the race for Declan Rice.

We’ve often heard the saying, ‘the season can’t end quickly enough’ but in the case of the West London club it’s totally accurate. Chelsea can consider themselves lucky there are only four games remaining in the Premier League season, because if it were eight, they’d be getting relegated.

Chelsea are a club in turmoil, a rudderless financial giant boasting a bloated squad and currently being coached by their third manager of the season. It would be easy to put the boot into Frank Lampard in this blog but suffice to say he’s not doing particularly well.

Declan Rice was always believed to want to rejoin former club Chelsea to play alongside mason Mount

Chelsea are out of race for Declan Rice despite his desire to link up with best mate Mason Mount.

It’s not all his fault of course, because the ultimate blame must rest with the owner Todd Boehly. The LA Dodgers owner was heralded as an innovator upon his arrival in West London, many claimed he was an insightful owner who could teach the Premier League’s old guard a thing or two.

In hindsight it appears that Boehly’s only qualification was to own the biggest wallet in town when former owner Roman Abramovich was stripped of the club.

What this ultimately means of course is that Chelsea are out of the race for Declan Rice in the next transfer window. Forget any former allegiances, friendships with Mason Mount and some members of the Rice family being Chelsea fans.

West Ham captain Rice is a world class footballer who rightly wants to strut his stuff on the Champions League stage and Chelsea can’t offer that. Rice has shown by switching from Ireland to England that he’ll do what’s best for him.
