Deadline day and the drama has started early. West Ham United have been negotiating all weekend for a top target – but it would appear to be bad news for the Hammers as their London rivals have steamed in to hijack West Ham’s plans.
Reported this morning in thesun.co.uk “CHELSEA are set to pay up to £30million for 18-year-old French strike sensation Eli Junior Kroupi”. West Ham had bid over the weekend an offer of £15 million plus add-ons to take the total amount up to £30 million. However that deal now looks to be fading into the distance as the West London club muscle in to steal the French youngster. According to the report:”Blues have jumped ahead of Prem rivals West Ham and Bournemouth for Kroupi, who made his top-flight debut at 16 for the club where his dad, Eli, also played.”
Kroupi may well want to reflect on the fact that Stamford Bridge is the graveyard of many players’ careers as once purchased, they never make it into the senior squad let alone the first team. Money talks – as usual – and it could well be that the player, advised by his dad, has simply had his head turned by higher wages than West Ham can offer. To be fair, other clubs have also been linked with the youngster today, such is his potential.
However – if you’ll excuse my non-pc language – it isn’t over until the fat lady sings – perhaps West Ham have the ability to offer game time to the youngster to tempt him towards East London.
If he goes to Chelsea then just like john Duran who’s just left Villa he’s more interested in his bank balance than actually playing football so jog on then, will probably never hear his name again at Chelsea untill they are sending him out on a loan to buy to Lille in a couple of seasons.
We hate Chelsea and we hate Chelsea….
Stamford Bridge is falling down, build it up with claret and blue…..we owe these show ponies so come on boys big performance tonight please COYFI
If Kroupi goes to Chelsea, he’ll be a bench warmer at best. What is the point in Chelsea hoovering up players who have no future at their club. F’ing passes me off.
I’ve never heard of him.
We’ve put in a 2nd offer for the Celtic youngster after they turned down half a million. If they turn it down we’ll sign a pre contract agreement with him for the summer window.
So Brighton get rid of Ferguson and then bring in a young striker from Germany. Explain that.
That’s easy, Ferguson is a crock and they are glad to get rid of him. As usual we sign all the other clubs injury prone rubbish
West Ham still talking to Kroupie people. We’re offering 33million according to sky sports news.
It’s difficult to find out the true position as 99% of what is written is pure speculation. Sky sports news are obsessed with Manchester United and pc tick boxes, so you can never take too much notice of them. I guess all any of us can do is wait for club announcements.
It’s not only Sky Sports obsessed with Manchester United, it’s the BBC too! The amount of articles about Rashford is crazy! We will just have to wait and see what transpires today. I know we’re all entitled to opinions but we are being fed constant rumours (rubbish?) which should be treated as a source of entertainment.
Of course Chelsea are trying to buy an 18 year old prospect on an 8 year contract. Another one for their bench.
A little like the 95 goal keepers they have. A decent manager would tell any youngster to avoid Chelsea and get some game time. Money talks to young players and if that’s what they want let them learn, a little like Duran no future until they return to Europe.
His agent probably stands to make a lot more from them than us so likely pushing him in their direction.
“perhaps West Ham have the ability to offer game time to the youngster to tempt him towards East London”
Yeah, like all the other 18 year olds we give a chance to. He’s probably looked at how we’ve treated Guilherme and ran in the opposite direction and to be fair I wouldn’t blame him.
We have a new manager now.
Spot on comment Tyso although it looks like Mr Potter is keen on our young talent after two managers with their heads in the sand.
