NOT exactly the easiest place to visit when your relegation-threatened side is desperate for points. West Ham fans will travel more in hope than expectation across London this afternoon for the 5.30 kick off against Chelsea. However at least there is – for the time being – hope.
From the three wins in three which the Irons have achieved thanks to Premier League back to back wins and the defeat over QPR in the FA cup, at least Nuno has arrested the run of nine games without a win which threatened to derail the Hammers’ season completely.
Amidst rumours of injuries and late fitness tests this afternoon, Nuno has named his starting eleven to take on the Blues.
West Ham United
Areola | Wan Bissaka, Mavropanos, Todibo, Diouf | Fernandes, Soucek | Summerville, Taty, Pablo, Bowen
Which means that Jarrod Bowen – over whom the injury worries were based – has passed a fitness test and plays whilst Ollie Scarles drops to the bench in place of Malick Diouf.

We’ll be live after the game with our player ratings – and open for your own comments and opinions after the final whistle so check back at 7.30
Come.On.You.Irons…
Very unlucky to lose that game, foul on Kilman for their 2nd goal and looked offside for the ball across then Diouf clearly poor defensively it was easy for them to attack and get crosses in from the left. I thought we played well first half then they brought about £200m of subs on and it was a real challenge second half. Proud of the effort and how the hell wasn’t Joao Pedro booked or sent off for inciting our players instead we had one booked and one sent off correctly so but nonetheless and then the useless Taylor doesn’t let play continue from throw on even though there should have been 2 mins to play.
If Sullivan doesn’t buy a decent centre back we might as well try and sell Bowen and Fernandes now and give up, our joke of a board should be ashamed for letting us get into this position.
I believe that Diouf looks better going forward.
Perhaps Nuno is planning to take it to Chelski from the go.
Here’s to hoping!
It’s 11:30 in Cartagema, Colombia. I’m off soon to watch the game at my local panadería. I just hope I’m not embarrassed in front of my Colombian friends.
Come On You Irons!
Cheers!
I don’t agree with the change, Scarles has been exceptional and is 10x the defender Diouf will ever be. If the change has been made to be ultra aggressive then fair play, the result will show but Scarles has a proven relationship with Summerville that was working, Diouf hasn’t and looks vulnerable defensively.
Hopefully am getting this wrong COYI!!!
