Chelsea’s young £22 million frontman under consideration

I’M NOT SURE about most West Ham United fans, but I’ve had quite enough of reading reports ‘linking’ the Hammers with a ‘swoop’ for Nuno’s old – literally- player Adama Traore in January.

Maybe because it smacks of ‘more of the same’ – old players, old legs, no resale value – exactly what got West Ham into their current crisis – but it shows low ambition for a club that desperately needs fresh legs up front having recruited entirely from the 30-something past-it pool for far too long.

So the report suggesting that West Ham are ‘watching’ and planning a winter move for Chelsea’s Tyrique George is a much more interesting  -nay – even ‘exciting’ prospect.

West Ham surely need to invest in top young talent

Suggested by eplindex.com as a ‘long term project’ the report suggests that, unlike Traore, he’s young man going places:

“At the other end of the spectrum, West Ham’s recruitment team are said to be exploring a permanent move for Chelsea’s 19-year-old striker Tyrique George, valued at around £22 million. Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that the young forward is “likely to leave” Stamford Bridge in January”

At some stage the Irons have to break their habit of buying in players on their last legs who conk out after a few months. Surely the lessons of Antonio, Ings, Fullkrug and – no doubt soon-to-be-crocked Callum Wilson will be learned.

George is indeed a young forward with an exciting future: Ready to lead the line at London Stadium though? Not yet. But one for the future who will develop and grow into another Gyokores? Maybe. And the Hammers missed out on him too.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

We have plenty of future stars which is why we bought Marshall, Landers, Cummings why should we pay £22m when we could have bought Idrissa Gueye for £10m and he was already scoring senior goals ?

For that sort of money we could probably by Dju from whichever club he is at.

Accept you have to write what is reported MT though these type of rumours seem highly unlikely given our need for a striker that can hit the ground running.

As my missus is a Chelsea fan, I have to take an interest in her players, after all she cones to suffer West Ham with me.

This kid George is good, and whilst I can see them letting him go on loan for 6 months, to get more playing time than he’d get at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea ain’t gonna sell the kid to anyone, he’s hot property.

  • Benny The Aussie says:

And yet we have a 20 year old (still called youth) Marshall who seems to be trying to get a real go?
But we look at someone else’s 19 year old?

La La land wishing , why on earth would George go to West Ham , when he has Bayern Munich / Leipzig /Dortmund / Monchengladbach / Roma / all chasing him

  • Morty says:

Antonio wasn’t on his last legs when brought in, as evidenced by his goalscoring record during his time with us

    • Zahama says:

Well pointed out Morty – Antonio gave us 10 good years and cost 7 million – that is a good value signing

Martin wont let the facts get in the way of a good story 😉
