Chicharito chooses shirt number

Chicharito chooses shirt number by Hugh Southon

Javier Hernandez will wear the No. 17 shirt for West Ham it was revealed last night as his favourite number 14 is occupied by Pedro Obiang. The Mexican opted for the number 17 on his back instead.

In a Spanish language article on Chicharito explained his love of the number 14 but said he has done equally well with other numbers.

“It is important to me because it is my favorite number but I already played with the number 7 in Leverkusen and I did very well. I have always said that the player makes the number. Thank God I did very well with number 14 and that’s why everyone knows me with that number. I would love to have it, but if you can not have everything, I’ll see what number I can choose. I debuted with 45, then with 25. And my first two goals with the selection were with the number 11. I have the 14 in my head and in my heart, even if I do not have it on the shirt.”

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

If Feghouli was being sold he would be vacating the number 7 so perhaps he is not ?

  • Radai Lama says:

Wouldnt read too much in to it 32,i saw a vid where Hernandez said his favourite number is 14 but Obiang has it so he doesnt really care what number he has as he has played with many different ones 7,11,25,14😃
