Chicharito Sevilla exit – The Finances

Chicharito is undergoing a medical today on the verge of joining La Liga club Sevilla before tomorrow’s Spanish transfer deadline day.

Sevilla will pay West Ham a transfer fee of €7.8m (£7m) for the 31-year-old Mexican plus an additional potential €1m (£900,000) in add-ons.

The Hammers will pay the normal 5% of the transfer fee to FIFA in a solidarity payment leaving a net transfer payment of around £6.6m.

Hernandez has taken a large pay cut as he was desperate to return to a Spanish speaking country having turned down lucrative offers from Russia & Turkey.

With ten months remaining on his contract, the Hammers will save another £6.4m in wages as Hernandez was the highest earner in the first-team squad.

Chicharito will lose all claim to his remaining signing-on/loyalty bonus after slapping in a transfer request on Thursday.

West Ham signed striker Chicharito from German club Bayer Leverkusen for a £16 million fee in July 2017 on a three-year contract reported to be worth up to £145,000 per week to the 31-year-old Mexican.

  1. Great business for the club, 13m we can put to a top midfielder or winger at Christmas.

  2. Glad this is sorted, he never got s real chance or played to he’s strength, but thanks for being a professional and never being a a certain player which will not be named, who F off to China let’s say and on your part you did not try hard enough at times, so best for both sides. Good bye amigo

  3. Why did he change his squad no to 9. He had already indicated he and WH were moving in opposite directions.
    Strange.
    Good luck to him .

He did not leave the bad stench behind like the other two forgettable ex players

  4. I think he scored enough goals for the time he had in the system we play. He has always been professional despite there not being a natural bond to the club. Fair play to him, I hope he does well in Spain.

  5. On paper he was a exciting signing, sad to say he never really did the business for us or look like he was interested most of the time..
    Won’t be missed

  6. Agree with a lot of the comments, would have liked to see us play 442 which suits his style more but from what I saw the other night Ajeti has the potential to score as many goals and offers a higher work rate. Wish him all the best in Spain if it goes through.

  7. I think it is crazy to sell him right now with Antonio possibly out for up to 3 months. All it takes is an injury to Haller and we are down to a 22 year old striker leading the line. Why not wait until January?

  8. Sorry bad taste I know – but I just couldn’t resist – Chicarito was prepared to put his hand up when needed against Fulham
