Transfer Rumour Round-Up from Claret & Hugh
Get the latest West Ham scoop in one go with Claret and Hugh’s news and transfer roundup! As the Hammers gear up to strengthen their squad, we’ve got all the rumours from silly season packed into one place with just under two weeks left in the transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano dropped a bombshell on Twitter. The transfer ITK revealed direct contact between West Ham and Man City for Kalvin Phillips. West Ham have clearly intensified efforts on this deal, with Barcelona not currently in the mix. Transfer offers may see Said Benrahma and Maxwel Cornet leaving West Ham by the end of January. But with the Hammers eyeing a new winger, one of these names could be on the move if the right offer comes in.
West Ham has its sights set on Antwerp’s Mandela Keita, a 21-year-old central midfielder. Reports suggest the Hammers are willing to meet Antwerp’s fee, nearly double the €8m paid for Keita. However, he is seen as a back-up option to Kalvin Phillips.
The transfer radar extends to the AFC Asian market. West Ham are actively pursuing AZ Alkmaar right-back Yukinari Sugawara and Ulsan HD’s Young-Woo Seol. Tim Steidten, on scouting duty at the AFC Asian Cup, believes these deals can be sealed before the transfer window closes.
