Claret and Hugh Exclusive | Club insider on defender links

West Ham’s defensive acquisitions have occupied several reports this morning, with the one gaining most traction being the report from German source Dominik Schneider regarding terms being agreed with 22 year old Albian Hajdari. Credible, given the price, age profile and the links that have already come regarding centre backs such as Taylor Harwood Bellis – but not with the £20 mill price tag!

Hajdari was an odd one, as we’d not seen him linked before, so having read and reported on the original article, Claret and Hugh popped the question to our high-ranking source inside West Ham United, since the claim is that “West Ham United have a verbal agreement with Lugano defender Albian Hajdari”.  Was there any truth in this, we asked.

The response from our source was unequivocal “I’ve heard nothing”. Another case of reality not matching up with reported expectations then. Either that or some incredible poker faced denial whilst negotiations go on in secret. Not usually the case: When we get too close to a genuine story normally we’re met with ‘radio silence’ as the club battens down the hatches against leaks whilst a player deal is pushed over the line.

The ‘Albian Hajdari’ story as it was reported on twitter

So it seems the Hajdari to West Ham story as another one to confine to that circular file marked ‘not true’.

However, Claret and Hugh associate editor Sean Whetstone has covered more ground on West Ham’s’ ‘evolving’ defender situation, so there’s more following soon this afternoon with some ‘eyebrow raising’ news to come.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

There is a BUS for sale near me ! Maybe Potter is looking for 30 + draws? How inspiring, NOT !

Where are our midfielders and attackers, enough with the defence, we need goals and pace in the team. So far this has been a truly awful neglectful window for us and if Potter is guiding this then he will end up following Lop.

We need central midfielders desperately to replace the statuesque lot we have in the squad !!!
