Even with ten we should have won it but Cheik should never have been red carded!
The game-changing Mark Clattenburg decision to send Kouyate off for a tired lunge on Gayle was poor – very poor and I’ll be surprised if the club aren’t already planning their appeal.
Yes, he was late but look at how his foot is angled – downwards toward the ball – which he may even have got a touch to and it takes a very strange mind to reach for red instead of yellow.
That levelled the scores two minutes after Adrian – instead of pushing an awkwardly bouncing free kick around for a corner – managed to find Delaney who headed in.
Lanzini levelled with ย fine close range effort after a cross by Antonio and Sakho knockdown and then came the game’s highpoint on 40 minutes.
After putting an effort over the bar earlier he curled an beautiful curling shot beyond a SEVEN MAN WALL and the helpless Hennessy.
To that point the Irons had put 223 passes together opposed to Palace’s 84 and at times played some great stuff but it changed in the second half after a highly controversial sending off and the equaliser came from Gayle after a terrible mix up between Reid and Ogbonna.
Despite a slow start we were the better team playing the better football but became very unsettled after the sening off and gave up possession to easily as Palace got a foothold.
It was a real shame but we remain in fifth place and must hope that Everton can put it across United tomorrow afternoon.
I hate excuses but with even Palace boss Alan Pardew admitting he didn’t believe Kouyate should have been sent off, it’s hard not to moan.
as said on the other thread, we score 2 brilliant goals and get savaged by a team who have not won since macdonalds decided to sell burgers!
not amused!
Any of us oldies who have followed this team for over half a century knows that among the ‘elite’ of the football world, we are not considered as quite one of them. Consequently, it’s OK to dump a bad decision on us, especially one that gives a leg-up to one of ‘theirs’
And who benefitted most from today’s leg-up, why, one of the ultimate elitist teams who just happen to be stuck behind the upstart
I knew after 5 mins clattenburk was going to make controversial calls , the first foul on payet out side the box was not given , a clear foul ! 2run of the mill fouls / tackles ? Take you’re pick ? He was like billy whizz reaching for a yellow , first half stats on fouls was 5 each ?
2 were deemed yellows for us ? He let every foul by palace in punished ! To even it up he gave 2 yellows to palace in the last ten to make it look even .
Take into account he comes from the wirrel ( what team comes from there I wonder )plus heis one of the poorest controversial refs in the game , fact ! Tells me what I thought was going to happen today ! He is without a doubt , useless !,
Bilic was seething with the clown , will be interesting to hear his take !
Another game and another game changing decision decision against us !
Again !! And nothing can be done about it , absolutely disgrace full performance !
if we’d scored enough goals this discussion would not be happening.
If we had a decent ref 2 goals would have been enough ?
He changed the game , its as simple as that !
Very happy today, I was at the Boleyn. Fantastic stadium, wonderful vibe, Payet scored an incredible goal, but that fuc*ing referee ruined everything… It’s absolutely discraceful! Thank goodness there is the figa… lol ๐
Lol,glad you enjoyed your visit Matte.Go chase the figa,Just don’t tell the girlfriend ๐
We shouldn’t have to out score the ref every game. We seem to do enough to win the games but then have a sh#t call go against us & costs us more points. Even if we can get the red overturned, we wont get the points back that it cost us.
It took a Scouse ref to pay us back for slaughtering the reds and blues ?
The a##hole cheated , it was obvious !!
Sorry about you’re day matte ! But its becoming the norm mate !
Go get you’re arms around a figa and cheer yourself up !
l have said before that the bias is institutional and moan and groan all you like, it wont change. We just have to focus on cleaning up our own act.
lt wasnt Clattenburg responsible for the goals we conceded today. lt was a completely unforced error by our goalkeeper for the first, and another by our centrebacks for the second.
lm not saying we were not robbed, just that we can and should mitigate our losses
Oh, and how Ginge would have been slaughtered if it was him and not Reid to blame.
Whats the point in ‘blaming’ players,it ain’t going to change the result.Dont see the point myself, but I suppose if it stops some men from kicking the cat, punching the wife or buggering the dog it ain’t all bad,lol
I don’t see what is being pointed out as whinging but. What Hugh, the fans, commentators, Bilic & even Pardew himself are highlighting are obvious inconsitencies in refereeing decisions & we seem to be on the thin end of the wedge as a club. That is detrimental to the game as a whole, causes discontent between supporters & borders on bringing the sport into disrepute. If you think back over the season on refereeing our games & the amount of times we blatently robbed, we should be up there & wondering who will win it, us or Leicester, but the FA don’t want that do they?
