Club Climbdown in Dramatic U Turn

Claret and Hugh understands news is just coming through of a major climbdown in the heated conflict between the club and its opponents over ticket prices which had caused a massive rift between club and some of it’s longest standing-supporters and culminated in the dramatic boycott from the Betway cup Match against Celta Vigo last weekend.

It looked as though less than 15,000 supporters made the trip to London Stadium for the Betway Cup which was remarkable in view of the newly-recruited  talent on show. Opponents of the ticket prices and concessions policy had also proposed boycotting the club store and therefore impacting on the finances of the club directly.

Hammers United a long time critic of the policy have said”The campaign is building and awareness of the club’s attack on its young, older and disabled supporters is growing. We therefore urge the club to get round the negotiating table as soon as possible and to not fudge the issue.”

“Until this happens and these outcomes are restored, West Ham fans will intensify the campaign exploring all avenues including legal and peaceful protest co-ordinated with other clubs who face the same attack on their fans’ loyalty.”

We believe as a result of a meeting of the WHISC – (West Ham Independent Supporters Committee) , with Niclola Keye (Director of Ticketing at West Ham United) and Cat Smith, (Head of Supporter Services at West Ham) that a change of pricing has been enacted.

Great news, and now we can finally concentrate on the football!

Like everyone else, lifelong WHU fan and season ticket holder in old BMU stand at Upton Park from 2003. Billy Bonds these days with my adult son and impatiently waiting for my Grandson to be old enough to initiate him before his mum grabs him for Man U. All opinions are my own very biased ones.

    at last common sense

  • Pat says:

Wonder if it’s because the Villa games on TV and they do not want to be embarrassed and answer the questions that will inevitably follow if the Stadiums half empty

  • Kevlar says:

Let’s hope they let seniors especially, who find it hard to climb the steps high in the stands to relocate to lower down and nearer the pitch. And they are still able to use the concessions which were withdrawn. And they also help families afford to watch matches at the stadium.

My son can’t take me and my 7 year old grandson to games anymore I’m 77 I can’t afford £85 and put me at top got Dodgy knees, my son can’t afford to take my Grandson anymore what a shame we live in Cambridge.

  • Terence May says:

People Power. The power of protesting without smashing stuff up or burning and looting.

  • Iron57 says:

“A change of pricing” is NOT a return to the original fair pricing system. A direct attack on supporters pockets is obviously still in the mix, in direct conflict to statement and promises made to persuade us to give up our spiritual home.

  • Eddy Trivett says:

As a lifelong season ticket holder. I urge supporters to not attend carabao cup games in protest.

  • Chris W says:

I just googled “cheapest season tickets in the Premier League.” Guess what? The answer is West Ham Utd.

    • Doug says:

It’s a smokescreen, you need to read between the lines, our owners are shafting the future fans and the older ones as well.

  • Sensible3 says:

There has been a very very small climb down by the club but its NOT back to how it was, we want concessions ticketing to be fully reinstated now Mr Sullivan, please don’t take us for fools.

  • Ken Edridge says:

I’m now 76 and was first taken to a West Ham home game when I was 6 years old, when my grandad took me to my first game. From that day onwards I have been a passionate Hammers supporter. The same happened with my son when I took him for the first time. Now I’m a grandad and have also introduced to 2 of my grandchildren to the Hammers. If the cancellation of the concessions continues that will be end of my visits and any future supporters I could bring. If there are many more people like me it’s likely to be catastrophic for the future of the the club and its true passionate supporters. At least an whole generation will be lost. Greed by the mega rich in this world is slowly killing everything we hold dearly to our hearts. WE MUST DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO CHANGE THE OWNERS MINDS ON THIS MATTER. COYIs

They still haven’t done anything about season ticket concessions which is a major reason for the protests.
This will effect all senior, children and disabled attendees.
