Club condemns violence and promises steward review

West Ham has released a statement condemning violence and promising a full review of stewarding and security.

The statement on WHUFC.com reads:

stewardsWest Ham United unreservedly condemn the behaviour of the individuals involved in incidents during today’s fixture against Watford. While these isolated incidents were quickly brought under control, this behaviour has no place in football and West Ham United will work tirelessly to eradicate such incidents.

We are currently undertaking an immediate full review with all stakeholders. This includes police, stadium landlord and operator LS185, who are responsible for appointing and managing stewards and security, to ensure we eradicate such incidents moving forward.

Our policy on this behaviour remains one of zero tolerance and we will work with the police and other stakeholders to identify the individuals involved. Once identified, they will be banned from attending any West Ham United fixture for life and we will request the courts serve banning orders to prevent these individuals attending any football.

  1. God knows what’s going to happen when one of the ‘big’ teams come to the Olympic Stadium – it’s an ‘accident waiting to happen’ – the Stewards from Upton Park knew the fans and had a handle on what was happening – this lot at the Olympic Stadium haven’t a clue!

I don’t like to say it, but it could become very ugly!

  2. I didnt go yesterday thought id put this first.

Ive never felt so disconnected from this club. Been a fan since birth (my dads one too) and for 25 years loved the club. Since the move the club do not care about the fans opinions or feelings and just want as many bums on seats as possible.

They fked it up big time. Family stand is the way forward (which is allowed as palace have one). Then rest of the stadium can do what they like in terms of standing imo.

I like the stadium dont get me wrong. But they are trying to rip the soul out of the club which is the passion from the fans. It turns aour as soon as you see another passionate fan kicked our for standing and signing.

Oh. And the stewarding is a joke. Someone will get severley hurt if it isnt sorted soon. London derby soon and thats when if they dont sort it.
