Club gives bizarre response to simplest question

|

By Hughie Southon

It’s hard to discover exactly what the West Ham media department gets up to beyond conducting interviews with players which normally say next door to nothing.

Let me explain:

Earlier this afternoon when I was writing a story about possible replacements for David Moyes I didn’t think to check the club’s official site via a search reference on when his contract ran out.

Instead. I asked the media department and received this response on whatsapp: “We don’t comment on contracts for players or staff.”

Yes, I know, I wasn’t thinking so checked google and there was a huge story about him signing a three year deal back in 2021 ON THE CLUB’S OFFICIAL SITE which was later confirmed by another source given that extensions can be done privately.

Makes you wonder. It really does. But in the meantime we and others will continue – as far as we can – to bring you what you need to know from within the club.

Sorry if this all sounds a bit self indulgent but some things we have to deal with occasionally are somewhat bizarre.

To be honest however my biggest response was a huge laugh out loud!

It’s true Hugh Google says his contract runs out summer of 2024 end of 2023/24 season and if as rumoured the owners want him to see out his contract then claret and Hugh have got a whole new season after this one to be writing stories about him. Unless he signs a new contract of course.
