West Ham United Supporters’ Club members have won an important legal battle to save the 70-year-old social institution from extinction.

In May forty-three members of the social club were rejected entry to vote at an EGM which planned to dissolve the club and its assets. A number of members formed an action group called ‘Save our supporters club’ and crowdfunded enough money to mount a legal challenge against the executive committee of WHUSC. This culminated in an eleven-page legal letter in June setting their case for all members to be allowed to vote and threatening court action.

This weekend the first step to victory in saving the club was claimed by SOSC after the executive committee finally recognised all members that joined up to 28th January 2018.

An email from the remaining Executive committee member said:

“At a meeting of the West Ham United Supporters Club committee and Trustee, which took place at the Royal Oak public house, Longbridge Road, Barking on Tuesday 17th July 2018, it was unanimously decided having received new evidence that all memberships that have been made and fully paid for up to and including Sunday 28th January 2018 will be recognised as full members of the West Ham United Supporters Club.

Further at the same meeting and acting on legal advice it was decided that an AGM is required to inform members of the current situation of the club. All members as noted above will be welcome to attend the AGM.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the West Ham United Supporters Club will be held in the Back Bar Lounge at the Boleyn Public House, 1 Barking Road, London E6 1PW on Sunday 9th September 2018 at 1230 hrs.

Entry is on production of membership card given to the member on or before 28/01/2018 and this will be verified at the entrance to the bar. No membership card No entry.

Please note that nominations for persons wishing to be eligible for election to the committee must be sent to the Secretary and must be received in writing by 5pm 26th August 2018. Please include the name of the proposer and seconder. Further any motions to be debated at the AGM must also be received by the Secretary in writing by 5pm on 26th August 2018.
