Co chairman predicts this kid is the new Brooking

|

martin-samuelsen-west-hamOn-loan Posh starlet Martin Samuelsen has just been paid the greatest compliment or biggest burden he’s ever going to carry.

The Norwegian teenager was given the opportunity of joining Peterborough United on loan a couple of weeks back and has been wowing the locals with his fabulous skills.

Indeed Barry Fry, the club’s director of football told ClaretandHugh soon after he joined that he believed if Posh could hold onto the player until the end of the season the club would win the league.

Now David Gold has gone many steps further than Fry’s bold prediction by claiming Samuelsen can become as great as one of the Hammers immortals.

Tweeting this evening (Mon) he declared: “Martin Samuelsen is on loan at Posh, I still believe he is going to be a player. It’s possible he could be as good as Sir Trevor Brooking. dg”

No pressure on the young man then!

Early in the season, I stated that this kid was a magician (I said at that time he reminded me of George Best),….I was shot down in flames by several ‘pundits’ on this site. I did not say he was going to be another George Best, I said his style of carrying the ball and passing it into the net reminded me of the Great man. In no time at all he is now being touted as another Sir Trevor….how fickle we are. However I am sticking by my opinion, this lad will be world class one day providing he stays fit and has the right coaching and guidance. To all those who berated my first blog…..remember he who laughs last ,laughs longest. We shall see.

still laughing i see and so you should!

and yes, a class act he is imo, contract him for at least the next five years.

In a flat, nasal Essex accent ‘aha-aha-aha! New Trevor Brooking you say! There’s only one Trevor Brooking! Aha-aha-aha!’

    Sorry, anyone seen my coat?

If this kid really is as exceptional as they say he is put him in the team now. Give him a shot. With all the injuries there’s not going to be a better time. If Bilic can give a full debut to a sixteen year old against Arsenal away then he can give a debut to Samuelson. I would definitely play him in the fa cup against wolves. It’s One thing doing a massive favour to your old mate Barry fry but west hams need is greater.

Seems like Samuelson had a good game last night. Has the Peterborough loan ended?

  • Matt says:

I know that if I wanted to motivate someone I wouldn’t compare them to a player that they had never seen play before. If it was motivation I was after I would have chosen someone more relevant to young Samuelson.

@matt I’m guessing you’re not in management or indeed a job where any kind of movitational speaking is necessary. Am I right?

Being compared to Trevor Brooking is a great honour for the youngster . If West Ham want him to emulate Brooking they better make sure they keep hold of him . With the likes of Man Utd always sniffing around to buy thier way out of trouble it could unsettle the lad . Best keep him under wraps eh .

Yes matt !! But the boy is class. There will only ever be one brooking ! But there is only one samuleson who in my opinion has a fantastic future in front of him !! Let’s hope the lad kicks on and doesn’t throw away his career with west ham as Cole did ??? This lad is intelligent as well as a good footballer ! He should go far !!!
DG means well bless him. !!! He gets a little bit carried away !!!!

  • Matt says:

It’s almost as good as the one when he compared Scott Parker with Alan Devonshire.

  • BrookingtoDevonshire says:

He scored a last minute winner for the U21’s tonight, so he may be on to something
