West Ham have colourful Marseilles boss Marcelo Bielsa on their list of Sam Allardyce replacements.
The former Argentine national coach’s outfit is currently sitting in second place in the French Ligue 1 two points behind leaders Lyon.
West Ham sources have exclusively revealed to ClaretandHugh that the 59 year old’s name has been in the frame but his extrovert and highly independent character could work against him.
He was Argentine boss between 1998-2004 before taking on the same role with Chile where he became a national hero after leading the country into the 2010 World Cup.
Moving on to Athletico Bilbao, he guided the team into the final of the Europa League final losing 3-0 to Atletico Madrid.
He joined Marseilles last year on a two year deal and the Hammers are keen although he is very much his own man and will do it his way.
A Hammers source told us: “A very strong case has been made for him and he’s under consideration. It’s true he has a very strong personality.
“The fans would love the pressing attacking football he serves up which is very much of the “West Ham Way”
His nickname is “Loco” (Crazy), not exactly encouraging… I would prefer someone else…
Was this the manager who Amalfitano was so unhappy to leave when he was sold to us? Morgan was almost crying in the French press, when he had to leave him. It seems he has a good reputation among players at least.
Amalfitano had a fight with Bielsa, I think he was happy to leave Marseille…
in that case not so good lol
He plays the right brand of football, similar to the way Pochettino etc play pressure and fast counter attacking, we like a character at WHU how he would get on with DS might be another question completely…
Depends what the fight was about ?
He plays the right way and if he is arrogant and does it his own way ( who does that sound like ) it might mean when the BFS fans are moaning that they have been entertained and they don’t like it because they liked to look up into the sky to see if the ball would come down on AC,s head we would have to explain to them that’s how we used to play before the old days of BFS and Nolan,
I think he is not arrogant, he’s a motivator, but I don’t know, I’m quite perplexed about him… He’s a good manager, but I would prefer someone else. Personal opinion.
I think the list of good mangers is very long (I like also Nuno Espírito Santo, Valencia manager). First of all I think we need a manager able of changing the mentality, giving us a fluent and attractive play style. He must be able to value young and top quality players. There must be a project. We can’t win the first year, but lay the foundations for the future.
We should show a little patience.
mattefumi69 I live in Valencia much of the year and he is highly thought of bu the paying public which is not easy in this area,he has got a lot of money behind him now and work is starting on the new stadium again after it stopped for 3 years because of no cash flow,I don’t think he would move at the moment but I agree he does play good football and he searches out hidden talent at a good price which would appeal to the 2 Daves.
So bubs you live in Valencia… wow, really nice place! Sea, good food, nice girls… 😉
