Following on from Andy’s article yesterday comes more substance to the exciting possibility of West Ham United obtaining their Niclas Fullkrug upgrade from Brazilian club Corinthians in the January transfer window. Premier League – ready, and at a competitive and – for West Ham – affordable £17 million price estimate, Yuri Alberto would tick so many boxes with age and pace being high on his skillset.
Previously linked with Southampton in the summer, the striker was the subject of a £14 million bid from West Ham in 2023: No stranger to this continent, Alberto played for Zenit St Petersburg in 22/3. Speaking this week, reported by tbrfootball.com:”
“I have a big dream of playing in Europe,” Alberto said. “I stayed at Zenit and ended up coming back because I couldn’t compete in European tournaments due to the war. I am very happy here at Corinthians but, if an opportunity arises that benefits both Corinthians and myself, I am open to [leaving].
“My priority is England. I really like it there.”
Now, if that doesn’t say “come and get me’ to Tim Steidten, I don’t know what does. In the words of Nike, Tim, “ Just Do It”
Go all out for Jonathan David of Lille, he is prolific and seems built and ready for PL.
How is it out of all the opinions on Alberto you are the only one who credits him with any sort of pace?
Didn’t the earlier article claim that he ‘isn’t blessed with blistering pace’? We desperately need pace in our line up.
So a question , I know nothing about the player never seen him . So here’s the Q: does anyone know if he is good enough for us , would he fit the team and score !
“…..ended up coming back because I couldn’t compete in European tournaments due to the war.”
Well we can’t offer European tournaments, so why would he come to West Ham?
Living and working in London is very different from being tied down in Russia at the moment.
He was at Zenit but 22/23, but is now at Corinthians (and if he was still at Zenit I bet there are sanctions preventing a UK club signing from a Russian club)
