Comfortable Fornals just wants to play

|

Pablo Fornals’ confidence is high after getting the call to action on Sunday.

He grew into the game well after being called up for injured Manu Lanzini and began to look the part towards the end following his £25 million summer switch.

So far he has made seven appearances but just two starts as the boss has given him time to settle into London and the Premier League pace.

And whilst Lanzini is probably the club’s best player ( we feel a poll coming on 🙂 ) it may be some sort of blessing that Fornals is now probably going to get more games under his belt.

He’s very likely to be involved at Oxford on Wednesday evening and it will be a surprise should he not find himself in the line-up for the match against Bournemouth at the weekend.

Jack Wilshere is back in contention after a good display as a late sub but Fornals will surely be in prime position to start both games.

Speaking after the game Fornals admitted that his confidence is continuing to grow and that he is starting to feel more comfortable .

“I’m feeling good right now,” the 23-year-old told whufc.com. “At the moment I feel sharp. I’m linking up well with my teammates, and it’s easy for me to play well when this is the case.

“I’m an attacking player, and I came here to play. If I need to defend and run every match, I am happy to do this because I want to play.

“I want to stay in the team, but to do this I need to work, I need to train well, be consistent, and I’m sure that I can do this.”

Fornals believe big things could come our way as long as the squad stays composed and keeps this incredible run of form going.

He added: “It’s important that we stay consistent. We’re playing well and we have played some good matches recently.

“We need to continue to play in this way for us to stay up [near the top of the table].”

Fornals started playing and was delighted by the fans great reaction to him playing.

He smiled: “It was a great afternoon. Yarmo’s in a very good moment right now, off the back of his injury, and Cresswell from the free-kick was amazing.

“The atmosphere in the stadium was amazing. I had four friends and my girlfriend here too. Now I’ll ask them if they enjoyed the game, but [from the pitch] I think that the atmosphere was unbelievable!”
