Confident Bowen looks ahead after Gooners frustration

|

Jarrod Bowen was left to rue missed chances on a day when the Hammers lost a game they should have won.

The new boy put in a decent performance, hitting a post and more than putting his shift but at the end of it all? Only frustration.

But he believes  firmly  that if we keep performing  as we have done since his arrival at the club, they will gain the points needed to haul themselves away from the relegation zone.

Apart from hitting the upright he saw a stinging shot well saved with Michail Antonio twice going close and Sebastien Haller also being denied by the Gunners stopper.

He didn’t mention it of course but there was also the disappointment of seeing Michail fail with a simple pass to Haller when a goal looked  certain as a result.

Wolves next and sharper finishing can see another three points in the bank as the haul towards safety continues at the London Stadium.

Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/march/08-march/jarrod-bowen-our-performance-levels-and-work-ethic-are-there the new boy said: “It’s frustrating because we had a lot of clear-cut chances that we should have taken

“We need to be more ruthless in front of goal, but again the performance levels and the work ethic were there. It’s just that final bit which is crucial.

“It was a case of us working hard, being disciplined without the ball, have a good shape and frustrating them.

“When the chances came we had to try and take them, which unfortunately we didn’t.”

Bowen is not concerned about what’s in front of the team with Spurs (away) and Chelsea) home to follow saying:“We’re focused on ourselves and we can’t worry about what’s going on around us.

“We know the quality we have got and we know that we need to keep on performing as we have done in recent weeks – but being more ruthless in front of goal to get the three points we need.

“The performances over the last three or four games have been promising. Like I said, the work rate is there, the quality is there, so we’ll go into those games with confidence.

“We’ll focus on ourselves to pick up the points to drag ourselves away from where we are at the minute.”
