In the last few days reports have linked West Ham with old and new names as the club’s search for a frontman grows increasingly urgent. Names from South America, the UK and Germany have all been linked – even perennial rumours for Baris Alper Yilmaz from Turkish side Galatasary have surfaced again.
Given Tim Steidten’s links with the Bundesliga, when reports linked the Hammers with interest in FSV Mainz’ striker Jonathan Burkardt, the scenario rang true.
In a report just this afternoon in;Fussball Transfers West Ham’s interest in Burkhardt is confirmed even though the thrust of the article is to pour cold water on FSV Mainz being enthusiastic about seeing him mid-season.
I’m not surprised. The 24 year old is the must successful striker in the Bundesliga in 2024, and to cap that was called up for Germany to replace the injured Kai Havertz, no less, in October. Therefore the likelihood of his club giving him up without a fight in January is deemed ‘rather questionable’ by fussballtransfers.com.
However in reality it just means the price needs to be high enough for Mainz to let him go. With three years left on his contract, he won’t come cheap. But then, neither did Niclas Fullkrug.
Well if he’s as good as you guys think he is don’t mess around ”Penny-Pinching’ if anything offer the club more than there asking for’ rather and trying to get him on the cheap. and offer the guy more wages that he’s on now. C O Y I’s
Cheers Paul.
Sullivan and lopetugui havent got a clue between them, so loos has got to go no more pussy footing around a Lucky win over wolves is not an improvement on his management skills just shows he has a complete lack of any at all. And if sullivan and steidton don’t get us a quality young classy and pacey striker in January they should both be on their way as well.
Sullivan will not sanction the deal the Words cheap and freebie not seen in the article so it is a non starter
Hopefully we send Fulkrug back the other way as part of the deal!!
win/win.. whatever that is in German
If Steidten is so good then why did Dortmund’s Silas go out on loan somewhere else and to my knowledge wasn’t ever considered as a replacement for Antonio? He’s a carbon copy physically and can also play centrally or wide but certainly wouldn’t cost £25m! Asking for a friend in a funny russian hat!!
