Mark Noble has tried to sum up what went wrong on Saturday and can’t.
That it’s now Tuesday and we are still looking back is a little bit of a concern when surely we should all be looking at Saturday and asking relevant questions about that.
Will Reid be back for the job of marking a certain Lukaku is one that springs immediately to mind. Watford needs to be forgotten as we head into a seriously tough match against our bogey team.
Unfortunately Mark’s interview doesn’t help us in that area and gives the impression that the fans may have worked out more than the skipper.
Here’s what he says: “We didn’t quite tick for reasons I don’t know. We started well, but that is the Premier League for you, that is the way it goes sometimes.
“I think nobody played to their capabilities and we played against a team that was high in confidence and I thought they thoroughly deserved it.
“You can usually count on those boys to create chances for you, but it just didn’t happen but those boys have been great for 11 games and they will have learned from this match and will work on things again in training to put it right.”
All well and good but it’s a little worrying to dismiss it with a “that’s the Premier League for you.” Hardly an explanation that’s gonna wash with many supporters.
Most of us have accepted that Sakho’s absence at the front and Reid’s at the back was a major contribution and we really are going to need both back on Saturday.
Current reports are that they both have better than even chances of making it – we’ll keep you updated.
