It smacks of classic dithering Dave. However from a new report out, we are assured that ‘Everton hesitancy’ over the oft- discussed transfer ‘swoop’ to take David Moyes’ favourite signing back to the blue side of Liverpool means that the deal is now looking distinctly ‘paused’.
Claret and Hugh have reported on the Toffees’ interest in reuniting former boss David Moyes with his Czech favourite Tomas Soucek. Now that the transfer window looms large it appears there’s no clear plan from either Moyes or his club to bid for Tornado Tom and some frantic back-pedalling seems to be taking place.
Reported in ‘footballinsider247.com, Everton’s transfer strategy is dissected in their article “Everton move for David Moyes’ favourite Tomas Soucek goes cold at West Ham” with the explanation that “Everton hesitancy over transfer deal is understandable”.
Suggesting that the dithering is coming from the Toffees over a bid for Soucek rather than from the former West Ham manager has a certain delicious irony that will not be lost on many West Ham supporters who blame Dave’s “dithering’ over several transfer windows for the sorry state of the Irons’ squad nowadays.

Soucek – staying at West Ham maybe – or not?
“While the West Ham midfielder is a “favourite” of Moyes’ due to his physical strength and ability to find the net, Everton are yet to make any early moves to try and secure the signing of Soucek this summer.” Continues the football insider report. Which in itself will divide opinion at West Ham: Soucek is the classic Marmite player, Hammes fans either love him or cannot wait to see him dropped – there are no lukewarm Soucek fans.
So the news that Everton are back-pedalling will be greeted with disappointment by many who can’t wait to see him gone. However, his goals have been priceless this season and may well have been the difference between the Hammers being safely stuck at 17th rather than down in the mire at 18th. So there’s no rush to cart him off to Merseyside.
Good impact player to either see a game out or up front when we need a goal
Ideally I’d keep him but we may need some quick deals to finance incomings. Personally I hope we get an early deal done for Kudus as he will never be the same player for us again and it would give Potter the resources he needs to start changing things. But the rest of the midfield could go and not be missed much.
I would keep Soucek over Ward-Prowse any day. Tom runs his heart out, is effective in both boxes, scores vital goals, loves West Ham. Keep him.
Like many I’d keep Soucek, perhaps as a squad player, but a vital one – if he was willing. We need good footballing all-rounders in the midfield I feel, but again Soucek would be the exception to this because he brings a lot character and determination too. A good leader, he might help calm the team down under pressure and having a goal scoring midfielder is a great asset. he probably causes as much panic in the opposition at corners as Dawson! It is understandable if he leaves, being 30 and wanting to play regularly, but we’d be relieved at times to be able to call on him, I think. A real stalwart too and you need them.
Like it or not PSR / FFP is a reality. From Everton’s point of view Soucek has no resale value
Moyes made some real transfer errors (e.g. Vlasic) but one of his better buys was Zouma who was great for 2 seasons until his knees finally gave in – so there was no resale value
Now I feel that part of going for younger players is to avoid buying players with no resale value
Personally I would rather have Soucek the warrior than Ward-Prowse – and I agree with yesterday’s post that says we cannot play them in the same team
Soucek without him this year we could well have been relegated Vital to us in my opinion
Keeping tomad is a no trainer to me
Brainer
“there are no lukewarm Soucek fans”
I bet there are.
Maybe there are fans with ambivalent feelings towards Soucek?
West Ham fans often say they want players who are committed to the club, play 90 minutes & give it everything, remain loyal and kiss the badge.
Does this not seem like Soucek?
