As reported yesterday on CandH, Maxwel Cornet’s future at West Ham United now appears to be becoming clearer as the transfer window draws to a close. The Ivorian attacker has struggled for playing time and according to The Daily Telegraph is being linked to a loan move to Southampton.
The winger last night cryptically photographed himself in a lift, presumably indicating that he was soon the depart East London following his less than successful transfer.
As C&H was told by a club insider yesterday, “We’ll need to move more than Zouma on before we can bring anyone in]. Therefore, hopefully the exit of Cornet should trigger the transfer for Carlos Soler.
Cornet’s arrival at West Ham two seasons ago was met with high expectations. However, the forward has struggled to establish himself in the starting line-up and has been limited to substitute appearances.
The likes of Brazilian starlet Luis Guilherme and the Championship’s Player of the Season Crysencio Summerville have both already been added to the Hammers’ ranks which has pushed Cornet further down the pecking order.
A loan move to Southampton could provide Cornet with an opportunity to play regular football and showcase his abilities. The Championship club is interested in signing the Ivorian and could offer him a more prominent role in their team.
Championship club OR Southampton???
Hopefully there are conditions in any contract to trigger a loan to buy deal.
Is a shame it didn’t work out was hoping he would come good, looked a decent player at Burnley
Do you do this on purpose Simon? Yesterday you had Notts Forest playing in the championship and now Southampton. What’s going on?
Cornet was not the type of player that Moyes style of play needed. Had a big injury not givern a chance under Moyes. So why waste money buying him. So good luck to him if he goes to Southampton Russell is a good young manager that can give Cornet his confidence back.
“The Championship club is interested in signing the Ivorian and could offer him a more prominent role in their team.”
Somebody needs to tell Southampton they failed to gain promotion last year. They’re gonna be pretty gutted at the news having spent the summer looking forward to their return to the PL and even having played 2 matches in it this season…
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t worry, it’s just a typo 😆😆😆
Another decent player until moyes got his hands on him.
Another groundless and ridiculous anti-Moyes comment……. Unless you are suggesting that David Moyes inflicted the serious injury that Cornet suffered?
Struggling to understand how him taking a photo in a lift means he’s leaving?
I have to say that I’m wondering how Simon Leyland still has a job at C&H. How many more Premier League clubs will he tell us play in the Championship? Credibility = 0.
Not suggesting moyes inflicted injury on him at all, just saying when he was fit moyes never played him anyway.
