Cornet gets more minutes

Maxwel Cornet is continuing to build his sharpness and match fitness and played for the Ivory Coast over the international break.

The 25-year-old has somewhat struggled for minutes at the Hammers thus far and has yet to start a Premier League game for David Moyes’ side.

However, he won his 29th cap for his country as they beat Togo 2-1 on Saturday.

Cornet started the game on the right wing and played just over an hour before being substituted.

Goals from Seko Fofana and Franck Kessie gave the Ivory Coast the victory in the friendly, and they will be back in action on Tuesday against Guinea in another friendly.

That will be the Ivory Coast’s final game of the year, before they go back into qualification for the African Cup of Nations.

Cornet’s country did not manage to qualify for the World Cup so they will not be playing in Qatar through November and December.
