Cornet’s back!

|

By Simon Leyland

Maxwel Cornet has returned and he is now playing football !  Albeit for only 45 minutes for the Under 21`s against Manchester Citeh last night.

The poor fellow has been out for five months but had barely featured prior to that following his £17.5m summer arrival at West Ham.

Due for a return

The swift footed  winger was expected to be out for a couple of weeks when he was forced off with a calf injury on his first Premier League start for West Ham back at the start of October.

But he has not been seen in the claret and blue since.

Our Supremo in his pre-Brighton press conference, said: “Maxi is coming on. We’ll see how he is and hopefully we’ll get them closer to the first team.”

The good news is that Cornet did not appear to have sustained or aggravated any injury and the substitution at half-time was clearly pre-arranged as Moyes looks to gently ease the former Burnley man back into the action.

But with the level of intensity in the top flight, particularly at this stage of the season, our taciturn Scotsman is right to be cautious about Cornet’s return.

Nevertheless, it was great to see the ex Lyon star back in a West Ham shirt. Let’s hope he can make an impact when he returns
