Coufal future truth amid Soucek impasse

By Dave Langton

Vlad Coufal’s West Ham future is not linked to  that of Tomas Soucek.

There remains an impasse between the Hammers and Soucek, who we believe is attracting plenty of interest from both the Premier League and abroad, and who may well  depart the club this summer.

Soucek and Coufal have often been considered as having a  close relationship, particularly in the media due to their shared Czech heritage, but we have been told that the future of the two players is not intertwined.

Coufal posted a cryptic end-of-season message, in which he said he would “hopefully” see the Hammers fans again next season.

That sparked fears that he could leave the club too, but we understand that the right-back remains committed to the club.

He fell down the pecking order somewhat towards the end of the season, with Ben Johnson excelling, but there are no plans at West Ham to move Coufal on.

Of course, a huge bid could well change those plans – although this can be said for every single player at the club, bar Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen this summer – but David Moyes fully expects to call upon Coufal again next season.
