Coufal update – defender’s problem explained

West Ham medics are hopeful that Vladi Coufal’s two week rest will be sufficient for him to shake off the effects of a nagging injury.

Although considered relatively minor the defender has been playing through the pain barrier over recent weeks and as a result withdrew from international duty with the Czech Republic.

But beyond that the defender also decided that his body generally needed a break after nearly non stop appearances for club and country over the last two and a bit seasons which have seen him in amazing form.

His last couple of appearances may not have been as impressive and up to the standards he demands of himself and as a result the break is much needed.

Should he not be available for the match at Everton, Ryan Fredericks is likely to replace him having made good progress from his won injury.

Meanwhile a Hammers source told ClaretandHugh: “Coufal’s body just needed a break. Hes played non stop for 18 months,

He’s been feeling pain fir weeks and hopefully this short break will help him recover as we need him back to his best.”
