Could West Ham fund Valencia’s deal for Gomez?

|

A report by the Sun newspaper claims that West Ham could pay £30m for Valencia’s striker Rodrigo Moreno. If true and that’s a big IF that could provide enough funds for Valencia to conclude a deal with Celta Vigo for Maxi Gomez.

The 28-year-old who was born in Brazil but moved to Spain at a young age scored 15 goals in 51 appearances last season and helped Valencia win the Spanish Cup. The Spanish striker played for Real Madrid’s C and B teams before moving to Benfica for £5.3m in 2010 and then Valencia for £27m four years ago. He has scored just 105 goals in 347 career appearances.

He played a short spell in England on loan with Bolton Wanderers in the 2010/2011 season. He scored just once in 17 outings for the Trotters with reports that he struggled to adapt to the intense nature of the English game.

His current contract with Valencia runs until June 2022, Everton is also said to be made an enquiry over Rodrigo’s availability.

Doesn’t make much sense to me. We fund Valencia to buy the young exciting player we’ve wanted for 7-8 months and then make do with their 28 year old cast off who scored 8 league goals last season.

I’d rather have Gomez thanks. He scored 13 league goals for a side fighting relegation.

Why would we even consider this player he is too old , with no sell on value, to pay 30 million for also f he could not handle the English league when he was younger he will be too old now. Another fake news story put out to sell newspapers

I can’t us see signing Gomez if you look at our signings since the arrival of Pellegrini non of them was on the radar before the business was done. Hence I think this Gomez saga is being used as a cover up of an even better striker incoming.
