West Ham press conferences could get interesting if Paulo Fonseca gets the Hammers manager job. The Shakhtar Donetsk manager once conducted his post-match news conference in a Zorro costume. Fonseca promised to dress up as the masked vigilante if his side qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League. The 2-1 win over Manchester City in December 2017 sealed his club’s place in the knockout stage.
Fonseca appeared in a black hat, cape and mask after his team had ended Man City’s unbeaten record in all competitions.
“This is the most joyful press conference of my career,” Fonseca told reporters at the time.
“I feel great joy. I think not only Shakhtar’s supporters but all Ukrainians have to be proud of our team. Twelve points in such a group is fantastic.”
The 45-year-old flew in from Luton earlier today with his agent Jorge Mendes for a 75-minute interview with David Sullivan at his Essex mansion.
