West Ham’s strength in the left back position has been demonstrated again following Aaron Cresswell’s England call-up.
Cressie may not have enjoyed the greatest season of his career but improved considerably towards its climax to ensure that England boss Gareth Southgate gave him a shout.
He may well have had our back-up left back Arthur Masuaku to thank who piled on the pressure with some performances which had many believing he deserved to hold on to the role.
Injury intervened and as a result Cressie took full advantage to show he was coming back to his best after an interrupted season.
And on claiming a place in the England squad for a FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Scotland and a friendly in Paris against France at the start of next month, he said: “I’m delighted to have got the call, especially for such big games.
“Making my England debut against Spain earlier in the season was such a proud moment for me and my family and I’d love to earn more caps for my country.
“It’s up to me to take my chance and I want to head to the training camp show what I can do and end the season on a high.
“I can’t wait to get started and hopefully I can help England get a couple of great results.”
Yes good luck Cressie hope you get on and it goes well COYI !!!
Good luck to the lad. Let’s hope he starts for England to set him up for confident and injury-free season in August
