Cressie Well Impressed With New Hammers Gaffer

West Ham senior statesman Aaron Cresswell has been giving his opinion on West Ham’s new head coach, Julen Lopetegui, following the beginning of pre-season training.

While nobody would expect anyone as experienced as Cressie to say anything remotely controversial about any new regime, it’s clear the Hammers’ left-back is looking forward to life under his new boss.

It’s certainly apparent from Cresswell’s words that Lopetegui is implementing changes at West Ham, and he’s leaving the Hammers’ squad in no doubt about what he wants.

Speaking to the club website, Cresswell said, “It’s been brilliant since Lopetegui came in. It’s an exciting time for everyone, and one we are all looking forward to. Every manager I’ve worked under, which is now five at West Ham, comes with different ideas, their own philosophy, and way of doing things, not just on the pitch but off it also. That includes behind-the-scenes stuff such as standards, being on time, and all the other little things that come with that. He has certainly put in place how he wants to work already, and I’m sure when we have a bigger meeting when everyone is back, we’ll go through it all again.”

Hinting at an increased workload, the full-back remarked, “I think if you dive into everything the manager wants and give it everything you’ve got, then you’ll do fine. We are all professionals, so you’ve got to attack it with a positive mindset. I am 34 years old now, but I still want to learn things, and I am sure the manager and his coaching staff have bags of experience, so it doesn’t matter if you’re 18 and it is your first trip, or if you’re one of the senior members like me, you are here to learn, work hard, and we all never want to stop learning.”

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.
