Cresswell development

West Ham boss David Moyes will not be looking for further left back cover in January – should he be trusted with funds if he is still in charge.

It was believed that Aaron Cresswell was out of contract in June of next year Aaron Cresswell – Player profile 22/23 | Transfermarkt.

But Claretand Hugh has been told this evening that the player has signed an option and that he has a further 18 months on his deal which will take the left back past his 34th birthday.

The cockney scouser remains very much the first choice on that side of defence despite the manager signing former Chelsea man Emerson.

Moyes remains a big admirer of Cress although the summer signing has thus far made seven appearances at Premier League level.

A key Hammers source said: “We place great value on Aaron and information that he is out of contract next year is incorrect, He has signed his option and has 18 months left on his deal.”

  1. Trouble is others look bad covering the things he cannot do anymore, like run back in time to stop a quick counter attack. Cover the position he should be when a fast Winger moves down on the left.

  2. Develop Manny Longelo and stop the talent drain.

    • Totally agree: Longelo has an abundance of skill and also two traits which are sadly lacking in this current ageing team, pace and youthful energy. Unfortunately, Moyes will probably try and paper over the cracks by playing Johnson there, who is increasingly looking like a jack of all trades and master of none.
