Cresswell gets the call

Manuel Pellegrini has made it clear that Aaron Cresswell is ready to take over at left back in he absence of Arthur Masuaku on Sunday afternoon following his double yellow at Aston Villa on Monday.

But there is a worry over Manuel Lanzni’s partcipation with the manager saying: “Manu has a problem but we will review that tomorrow before the match.

And he confirmed that Winston Reid is on his way back  and appeared to confirm he will be involved in Under 23 action either next week against Sunderland or the following weekend.

The Lanzini problem came as a shock but the boss didn’t elaborate on the injury he has sustained but it certainly looks as though one way or another Pablo Fornals could be involved in the United game with Cresswell appearing a definite starter.

The boss said when asked at his presser said:“Of course Aaron Cresswell. He started the season and played last season with me. He played 50 per cent of the games. For a manager, the best performances come from players when they have competition behind them.

“Aaron wasn’t playing because Arthur was playing well but now he has the chance to show his ability.”
Reid meanwhile is clearly out of all pain and any reaction to his knee problem and looks certain to be involved again very soon with the boss explaining: “Probably the first game Winston will play will be with the U23s. It may be next week but it could be one week more.”

  1. God help us. MU will focus their attacks down their right to attack this weakness. Pelle should be turning to Johnson, not Cresswell who has performed poorly for two seasons.

    • Give over Aaron Cresswell is decent and needs supporters behind him not the other way round, I agree with Pellegrini and hope cresswell proves the knockers wrong. What is with West Ham fans and knocking players.

  2. Agree about Cresswell he is still a solid PL performer and hope he has a great game. Will be interesting to see Fornals play as a no 10, equally he might play Wilshere in the role or Ajeti, Pogba isn’t playing so we have a good chance if we go for it.

  3. I agree that Cresswell deserves a chance and that we supporters should get behind him. Johnson was not in the U23’s last night (or on Monday night for that matter) so is perhaps in the squad (if not in the final 18) – I am sure his chance will come whether at RB or at LB
