Cresswell’s call to arms

Aaron Creswell is ready to give it everything as the club faces the most important four games in its history.

The No3 was part of the Hammers’ squads which qualified for the early rounds of the UEFA Europa League in both 2015 and 2016, the first through a seventh-place finish and the second by topping the Premier League’s Fair Play table..

But this a whole lot different  as we aim for the Champions League with a squad so bang on their form.

Cress was captain of the team on Monday night as we secured that all-important victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

It seems like weeks now we have been talking and becoming excited about the prospect of Champions league football or, at the very least, the Europa League.

Not so the players, according to Crress, but with just four games left he makes it clear we are into entirely different territory as we bid to reach the highest level in the European game.

Who on earth thought we would be using expressions like that earlier in the season and my goodness doesn’t it feel good.

Cress told West Ham TV: “When there are 15 games to go, it’s a bit of a different story, but there are now only four games to go and we’re going to give it everything we have between now and the end of the season and try and make everyone at home proud,“That’s all we can do as players. Let’s see where we finish at the end of the season.

“It’s very enjoyable. I’ve been here seven years now and there aren’t many chances you get to qualify for Europe and we’ve got four games to go and we’re certainly in with a shout. I’ve said before, we’re going to give it everything we’ve got and that’s all we can do.

“It’s an old cliché but there are no easy games in the Premier League. Look at Monday night, Burnley have been down there all season and it was another tough game and another different challenge and Everton will be another one, but let’s see where we can go.”
